Test all the strands in Scarborough’s Reading Rope with CUBED-3
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could pinpoint why your students are struggling with reading and writing? The CUBED, now in its third edition, is an innovative, comprehensive family of literacy assessments that accurately, reliably, and efficiently measure all the critical dimensions of literacy: language, decoding and their product, reading comprehension.
Reading comprehension is the product of decoding and language.
The CUBED-3 assesses all three.
Many students experience difficulty with language and/or decoding, creating a condition where students struggle while learning to read and write. In less than 5 minutes, the CUBED-3 can screen all of these essential skills. If a student has language or decoding difficulties, the CUBED-3 allows you gather additional data to identify specific weaknesses that can be used to inform instruction. READ MORE >
Get to know the subtests of the CUBED-3
The NLM subtests of the CUBED-3 are designed to measure a student’s ability to comprehend and produce complex, academic language. The NLM includes two subtests (NLM Reading and NLM Listening) which measure reading and listening comprehension, reading fluency, expressive language skills, story grammar comprehension, inferential word learning, inferential reasoning, and writing. The DDM subtests of the CUBED-3 are designed to measure word recognition-related skills. The DDM includes four subtests (Phonemic Awareness, Phoneme Manipulation, Orthographic Mapping, and Decoding Inventory) which use a ‘testing the limits’ dynamic assessment approach to identify a student’s current level of performance and helps educators pinpoint where instruction should begin. Benefits of subscribing to the digital CUBED-3
Benchmark risk data at a glance
See how all your students are performing at a glance, and identify and sort students who are at risk on individual literacy targets. Risk is automatically calculated based on benchmark expectations derived from the Common Core State Standards and normative research. Reports can be filtered to display district-wide, school-wide, classroom, caseload, or individual results.
Detailed benchmark and progress monitoring reports
Detailed individual student benchmark performance charts allow you to view CUBED-3 scores and whether the student is at high, moderate, or low risk for each of the assessment targets. Progress monitoring graphs and trend lines allow you to quickly determine whether a student is projected to meet the end of year expectations, allowing you to make adjustments to instruction. Download and print intelligent, clear reports for IEPs and parent teacher conferences.
Automated intervention recommendations
Recommendations for instruction are automatically generated based off student performance on benchmark assessments to help promote growth in high risk and moderate risk areas for key targets for the language and decoding stubests of the CUBED-3.
Sort and group students according to risk
Students can be easily sorted and grouped according to risk (low risk, moderate risk, and high risk) for critical targets of each subtest of the CUBED-3 allowing for targeted instruction for both decoding and language so every student can thrive.
CUBED-3 is the reading comprehension assessment you’ve been waiting for!
Other tests on the market claim to assess comprehension but use faulty measures that produce inaccurate results. CUBED-3 accurately and reliably assesses comprehension through listening and reading retells from the NLM subtests. Comprehension questions probe students’ vocabulary and interference skills. Scores are compared to benchmark standards for screening and tracking progress over time. LEARN MORE >
